All Saints is a Christian congregation sustained by the Word of God and the Grace of the sacraments. It is the mission of All Saints to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through His Church for the sake of their salvation and His work in the world.
Founded in 1963 as a congregation of the Lutheran Church in America, All Saints is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. From its inception, All Saints has been centered on the Most Holy Trinity as known through Jesus Christ, the Word of God who speaks to us through the Scriptures, is confessed in the Creeds and who is present and active in our midst through the sacraments. All Saints seeks to maintain the integrity of the Church’s faith and practice through the proclamation of the Gospel and the reverent and prayerful celebration of the liturgy as it has been handed down to us from the earliest centuries and found in the Lutheran Book of Worship. We are evangelical in our understanding of the Gospel, catholic in our liturgical and sacramental belief and practice, and orthodox in our Biblical, theological and moral doctrines.
The members of All Saints come from all over San Diego County and from diverse backgrounds. We range in age from infancy to ninety and every decade between. We come from many different nations as well as states of the Union. We come from many different Churches and from no church at all. We are not drawn together and united by age, race, class, place of residence or by memories of a Lutheran childhood, but by the Lord and by our faith in Him.
All Saints Preschool has served the children and families of University City and environs for more than thirty-five years and has a reputation for excellence throughout the community.
Our church edifice was designed by the distinguished San Diego architect Sim Bruce Richards and it has been recognized by the American Guild of Architects as one of the best buildings in San Diego. Built entirely of rough-cut cedar, it is simple, beautiful and prayerful.
